After a wicked thunderstorm and lunch at a roadside cantina, we made our way toward the coast along some remarkably good paved roads before turning back northwest towards the Guatemalan border. Soon after the pavement ran out near Bermudian Landing, our Land Rover driving instructors put on an impromptu demonstration of the LR3’s pulling power by yanking a stuck school bus out of a muddy ditch. Packages of school supplies were quickly handed out to the kids and everyone went happily on their way.
